While wondering what to read next after I have finished ‘The Snow Child’, I have zeroed in on some titles as these ‘Heretics’ by G. K. Chesterton, ‘In Arabian Nights’ by Tahir Shah and ‘Like Death’ by Guy de Maupassant. I might probably begin with ‘Heretics’.
The first book I read from the Prince of Paradox – G. K. Chesterton – was ‘The Man who was Thursday’. This witty and intelligent writer, popular for his flawless flitting through genres as history, biography, theology, short stories, fiction, apologetics, etc. and his exhilarating sense of humour that suffuse his writings with light-hearted pleasure, left me amazed at the sheer brilliance of his style in such undertones of simplicity. But this I had read good five years ago. It is time perhaps, for another Chesterton wonder-work.
Here is a quote from the novella ‘Heretics’ that I came across and I am looking forward to reading this book, hoping that I might find more such gems to aid my writing.
Have you read any of Chesterton novels? How did you like them? And what about this quote? Makes sense or not?
Do share your thoughts below!
Happy reading till we meet next.
Until then, carpe diem! 🙂

I’ve only read the Father Brown short stories. I enjoyed them. Although, they are definitely an older style of writing. I will say that Chesterton has some amazing quotes, though!

Quotes, he has. Quite witty. I haven’t read Father Brown series. How is it? Do you recommend?

Like I said, the Father Brown stories are definitely an older style of writing. They were written over 100 years ago. If you like the Sherlock Holmes short stories, chances are you will like Father Brown. (Although, please note that the Father Brown character is very different from Holmes; not nearly as arrogant.)
My favourite Father Brown stories: The Blue Cross; The Queer Feet; The Wrong Shape; and The Three Tools of Death.

I’m intrigued. I’ll have my hands at it soon enough.
P.S.: I like how you subtly mention Holmes as arrogant. 😛
Thank, Maria for the reco.
