Writing Inspiration #12

While wondering what to read next after I have finished ‘The Snow Child’, I have zeroed in on some titles as these ‘Heretics’ by G. K. Chesterton, ‘In Arabian Nights’ by Tahir Shah and ‘Like Death’ by Guy de Maupassant. I might probably begin with ‘Heretics’.

The first book I read from the Prince of Paradox – G. K. Chesterton – was ‘The Man who was Thursday’. This witty and intelligent writer, popular for his flawless flitting through genres as history, biography, theology, short stories, fiction, apologetics, etc. and his exhilarating sense of humour that suffuse his writings with light-hearted pleasure, left me amazed at the sheer brilliance of his style in such undertones of simplicity. But this I had read good five years ago. It is time perhaps, for another Chesterton wonder-work.

Here is a quote from the novella ‘Heretics’ that I came across and I am looking forward to reading this book, hoping that I might find more such gems to aid my writing.

Have you read any of Chesterton novels? How did you like them? And what about this quote? Makes sense or not?

Do share your thoughts below!

Happy reading till we meet next.

Until then, carpe diem! 🙂
