One of the most powerful advices on writing that I have come across in recent times. I haven’t before heard of this author but his words hit so hard.
It is your voice alone that will give you the recognition you seek.
Nothing more. Nothing less. Let nothing make you believe otherwise.
And most importantly, do not adopt a style or voice, that is taken.
Find your style, build your own unique voice for your writing and preserve it.

I ado agree although I might add that being true to your written self doesn’t guarantee you recognition in the short or long term and sometimes copying the style or approach of someone more recognised can gain you recognition if only for a short while. Many writers experience a moment of recognition only to return to anonymity while the more profound often get recognised but only after they’ve passed on, which I find truly ironic Thank you for a very thought-stirring quote!

It is better to be not known than be known as someone. The one thing a creative should root for is getting known for what they truly are. Living by shadows that don’t belong to me is the last thing I’d want. As for the quote, I am glad I stumbled past it. Thanks, Michael.

I do agree with some extend. However, I feel as though I can able to write more the more I expose myself to other poets and writers alike. So I can develop my own voice.

No. It’s just that I had never thought of it that way; not that I’ve ever tried to be someone. I am happy to think that I might be one of those few people who were lucky to find their voice and style. Guilty of nothing.
