Happy Monday, readers and writers! How have you been? Today we shall talk about first attempts and writing.
I have known writers cracking their skulls up trying to get everything perfect at the first strike, almost killing themselves in the process. But I ask, is it necessary? More than that, is it possible to nail down every piece of writing you’ve ever forced from your pen, at the first attempt? Even if you don’t, will it kill you to give yourself the space, to be tad more merciful to the writer within you?
We fret, we all do. It comes with the creative kick, I guess. But you would feel quite relaxed to know that your life didn’t depend on it; maybe the bills, but surely not life. We deserve second chances, we all do. So go easy on yourself and read this quote from Robert Cormier.
What do you think? How important is it to have everything perfect at the first attempt? Do you push yourself too? Do share your thoughts below.
Happy reading till we meet next.
Until then, carpe diem! 🙂

I complete my writing pieces in single attempt. I do proof read them but don’t remember rewriting any. I make no edits except grammatical corrections and formatting the text. In fact, I often give up on incomplete writing pieces. I don’t know what perfect writing is. I just write and publish. However, I did an experiment with my recent post. I wanted to experience it’s voice version so converted it into voice to check if it sounds appealing. 😉

Well, that’s incredible. I wonder how many of us can manage finishing our writing in one go. I couldn’t for the life of me do that. Formatting is a different ball game all together. Cheers to you, Pratik.

Thanks Asha. I really appreciate you responding to the comment. It wasn’t quick but you kept the track. Every reader is a blessing, is what I believe in and when the writers like us put our writing pieces out there, it becomes obvious to be grateful to our readers. Glad to see you doing the same. Have a good time. Cheers! 😁

I tend to write down my thoughts then try and makes sense of them when I edit, I never plan, I tend to refer to my writing as organic!

I do that too. Although, I prefer to make notes on the go wherever I am and polish them later, add more meat, and format and then publish. I guess I love doing it in phases.
