I like authors who lay emphasis on the importance of reading. Stephen King said the first thing he ever did was put out the television and get to the book. Ernest Hemingway was always reading. He would read almost everything he could lay his hands on. J K Rowling never read a book that didn’t have something to learn from.
All the greatest writing minds believed that reading did more good to their writing game than anything else did. William Faulkner shared an interesting thought.
I believe that one has got to be a terrific reader to be a terrific writer. The passion to read anything and everything must come naturally to a writer and there’s nothing you read that doesn’t help the writing process.
What do you think? How important is reading for oneβs writing? Do share your thoughts below.
Happy reading till we meet next.
Until then, carpe diem! π

Thanks, Shaz. One has got to be a voracious reader to be a fantastic writer. Read everything you can put your hands on. No second thoughts about it.

Totally agree with this. A good writer must be an avid reader, I truly believe that.

I believe nothing hones your writing as much as reading different genres, or just the genre you’re trying your skill at.

I believe so too. It may not make much sense at first, but in the long run, anything becomes life-saving.

I live by the quote βIf you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.β -Stephen King π I have experienced this in my own writings that as i grew as an reader, my writings improved automatically π Some people may write without reading much, but they won’t be able to write consistently with the same fervor as a person with great reading habit will do. Reading and writing go hand in hand π

You summed it well, my dear, reading and writing are indeed, partners in crime (if I may be so bold as to say so). π
