Here’s a timeless advice that will take any writer; good at his trade, to places.
Being economical with your words, not just makes it idiot-proof but also enhances the quality of your work tremendously. And of course, nothing’s excluded of this rule but the first drafts.

I am definitely REALLY GOOD at using too many words & being overly verbose. Even now, jfc. I love economical writing though and should try to trim my own up. Great post!

Aha! I am quite good with lots of words making feeling expressive and Iโd say when you can offer in abundance while restricting. Also given, though, that few words can kindle the suspense further ๐

Efficiency matters but what I think is once a person is in full flow… One shouldn’t resist oneself instead one should emphasis more on emotions than words..

I’d say I do like a verbose prose given it holds substantial material for me as a reader.

There are many benefits in economy of words, but a writer can take it to the extreme and lose their voice.

True that, Janet. Classics, I find, a good example of wordy pieces of prose whereas contemporary literature has conveniently moved out of that fashion.

Well summed it, my friend. Increasingly, I find lackadaisical attempts at worded narrations, nothing but failing terribly at arousing a reader’s interest.

You may find Haruki Murakamiโs any work enchanting. It successfully grips readers far more than his words that actually mean nothing. Itโs beautiful on how it works. No sense, but irresistible & enchanting.

I find being economical preferable both for the writer and the reader. However, it takes a lot of practice to achieve that.
