It’s time to declare the 2020 resolutions.
After much contemplation, I have rounded off my resolutions to a few that I hope to accomplish by the end of this year. But before that, let me tell you that in 2019, I had one simple resolution – to read an appreciable number of books; given the year before last I achieved a sad figure. So while I managed reading a good number of books, the blogging and writing suffered to an extent that my statistics dipped by more than 50% and it was only by the end of the year that I realised just how big the loss was.
All kinds of personal and health issues got in the way. While there is no hold over such matters, at least one can plan and not let the things you love to do suffer. To that effect, I have a plan in place for this year because I realised how important planning well is for the resolutions to last.
Moving on, I have fairly few resolutions for this year but ones that will take good time, efforts, planning, and the monies, with the kind of results I am expecting to have at the end of it all.
My Resolutions List for 2020
Finish that MS
I feel ashamed to admit that I haven’t visited my WIP MS for a total of 14 months now. That’s just how awful the past year was for my writing. I feel so terrible.
Meet one author
I was this close to finally meeting Ruskin Bond but alas! He was out of town that particular weekend when I visited his home town Mussoorie.
Find websites for free stock images
I am always struggling to find good images for my blog posts. I hope to find some new ones because oh my God, I am so obsessed with having good catchy images for my posts.
Have whiter teeth
Of late, I’ve noticed that my teeth are not as white as I’d like them to be. I do not know when they started losing their whiteness and it has left me restless.
Take guitar classes
I have been wanting to do this since college days. Guess it is always the expense chart that holds me back. I hope that I am able to save some and finally enrol myself this year.
That’s all from me, friends. I have begun planning already and it is time to get bloody serious is what I keep telling my lackadaisical self.
Go on. Tell me what are your resolutions. How do you plan to achieve them? Any ideas how I can achieve mine easily?
Share your thoughts in the comments section below. I’d love to chat, you know it.
Happy blogging till we meet next.
Until then, carpe diem! 🙂

Look at https://pixabay.com/. That’s the one I use for my featured photos. You have to look around a bit, but I think you’ll find some good quality photos there. Good resolutions. Good luck with all of them!! Don’t quit. They all seem to be attainable.

I shall try Pixabay since many bloggers seem to use it. I am actually starting to have my own shot pictures used for my posts. That way I get to enjoy the rarity I wish to have.
Thanks for the push. I am yet to go see the dentist.

Yeah, I’m going to start using more of my own work as well. Sometimes I can’t find what I’m looking for and have to settle for something. ~Dave

If you want free stock images, you can find it on Pixabay, Pexels, Unsplash, etc.

Thanks, Manoj. I do use these portals but I am looking for new ones. Most of them are paid. Isn’t Pixabay paid?

Best of luck with your resolutions! For free stock photos, I always quite like Unsplash and Pexels. Though you probably know about those ones! 😀

I should add whiter teeth to my list, too. There’s nothing more thrilling than meeting an author!

I was so close to meeting Bond last year. Alas! I am planning to attend some book launches this year. I hope that way I shall be able to meet a few authors. Whiter teeth are best, and so much more reason to keep smiling. 😛

Sometimes I go to an author’s website to get their schedule and have success. I really hope you get to see Bond soon. And, best to you on your book launches, Asha. I definitely need to whiten my teeth. 🙂

Guitar lessons would be good. I have always wanted to play an instrument and also learnt banjo for a year but wasn’t able to pursue it in the long run.

I so want to learn an instrument, any at all. Been thinking of it for years. I hope you are able to pursue it this year.

Good resolutions. I aim to train for a marathon I probably won’t run (I have a reserve place for London and hope neither of our club’s runners get injured) and use my training to run around the no 11 bus route, and I am to get my TBR back to manageable proportions. I also want to get all my old reading journals from before my blog indexed so I know whether I read a particular book in 1997-2007!

These are some resolutions that will really keep you occupied, Liz. I am planning to get my TBR to a decent number without getting worn out. That is why I have not allotted a number to it this year. Not participating in any reading challenges too. A marathon sounds great. I was able to resume running for only the initial few months last year and then health issues got in the way and all fitness goals went for a toss. I hope this is a good year in terms of health and fitness. I wish you luck. Indexing is a good practice. Tiring perhaps, but effective.

Great list! Guitar lessons will be awesome! I’ve always wanted to be one of those people that can walk up to an instrument in a lounge one day and just play. I think I’ll go with the piano when the time comes to do so! 😅
Great to see you doing so good for yourself, my beautiful friend 😁

Piano is also a great instrument to learn. I’ll go for it too if I do the guitar thing this year.
You motivate me much, Trey. How have you been? And apart from the piano, what else are your goals for 2020?

😁 I’m glad I motivate you. You inspire me whenever I read your work. I’m sure anything you put your mind to will soon become second nature for you. I plan on publishing my first book, opening my own business, and reading more books for 2020. Thanks for taking the time to check on me. You’re amazing ✨

They look achievable. Good luck. Have someone to help you stay accountable, and check on them regularly.

I get a lot from Pixabay, all free and don’t need attribution either which is handy. A rest from the MS is good and will give you new perspective on your work. I am excited to know more, if you feel like sharing?

There’s certainly a lot going on with the Youtube and getting out of job thing. I hope these work out and that by the end of the year, I earn enough from these avenues so that I don’t need to look for a job anymore. Also, plans to travel to Dubai is on the list for 2020.
How about you, friend? What resolutions?

I saw you have a new video up, I will watch it later. I certain you will achieve your goals. Dubai is an interesting choice. And just as an extra choice the tagline for another country is ‘it’s more fun in the Philippines’. Just saying!

With me its not so much about resolutions as targets, unfulfilled ambitions!

These are good, achievable resolutions! I’m not sure about free stock photo websites, but I like DepositPhotos. They often do very good bulk photo deals. Worth keeping an eye out for them 🙂
