you were my drug
the one I was bare without
the one I couldn’t stop craving
and even though I knew
you were drowning me
I held on to you like
a ship does for anchor
you were my drug
the one I couldn’t live without
the one couldn’t breathe without
and even though
you were killing me
I needed you more than my next breath
I didn’t know what to do
when I couldn’t find you
neither beyond the stars
nor under the sea
and I’d dig a well
five hundred feet beneath
if I could have my fill
a fill for a lifetime
a fill of you
because
you were my drug
the one I couldn’t live without

Nice!

I always love your brand of intense, raw, and powerful poetry. This is one I will read again and again. The use of the past tense is also interesting.

I’d keep writing more if it’d inspire you to pen down your pieces more frequently. Great observation as always.

I wish I had your talent! I will try and be more frequent, and of course who knows what will be in my first poetry collection, coming later this year, when I finish it!!!
