Finally, autumn is here! I know what most of you guys are waiting for. The September Book releases, isn’t it? Believe me, so am I. The cool weather is upon us, and what goes best with a hot beverage? A fresh good book. And we, bookworms, are in some luck this time because September brings to us some of the most kickass books of the season. These are from different genres and there’s something for everyone.

New books by some of the favorite authors including Zadie Smith, Elena Armas, Stephen King, Millie Bobby Brown, Beth O’Leary, among others, will be out this September for readers to indulge and boost their reading pace. So, I’ve created a list of the most-anticipated book releases in September so you can grab them as soon as they are out. Let’s go!

The Fraud by Zadie Smith
This historical fiction is based on true stories in which a butcher from a lower social class in Australia declared himself the legitimate heir to an estate in England. This book features a large cast of characters and is set during the legal battles that sparked racial conflict in Victorian England. I am particularly excited to get started on this new September release.

The Witches of Bone Hill by Ava Morgyn
In The Witches of Bone Hill by Ava Morgyn, two young women learn they are Nordic witches. Due to her husband’s criminal debts, successful businesswoman Cordelia Bone struggles with money. Cannabis farmer Eustace learns they must inherit a Victorian mansion in Connecticut that is under the control of their aunt’s lawyer. The sisters must deal with a disturbing family secret, the reality of their mother’s passing, and an enigmatic foe. To survive at Bone Hill, they must discover their power to mend their relationship, halt their deteriorating health, and embrace their Nordic heritage.

The Scarlet Veil by Shelby Mahurin
Despite her new captain and fiancé, Jean Luc, Célie Tremblay, a sweet and beautiful girl, succeeds in becoming the first huntswoman in the Serpent & Dove series. Belterra is experiencing the rise of a new evil that leaves blood-drained bodies. Célie follows the murderer to the home of the Éternels, where she attracts the king’s attention and learns of his secret plans for her. She is tempted to give in to both her own and his dark hunger as she approaches him.

The Long Game by Elena Armas
Adalyn Reyes, a disgraced football executive, is sent to North Carolina to coach a struggling youth team in this sweet tale of small-town love. Her routine is disturbed despite her best efforts when a video of her altercation with the team mascot goes viral. Her father, the team’s owner, assigns her to turn around the Green Warriors in order to atone for her transgressions. Her plans are derailed by the fact that the players are terrified of her, wear tutus, and have pet goats. Goalkeeping prodigy Cameron Caldani is also in town, but he intends to run her out. To make amends and save the team, Adalyn must play the long game.

Fall of Ruin and Wrath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Jennifer L. Armentrout’s spellbinding fantasy romance, Fall of Ruin and Wrath, is set in a world where nine cities are governed by guardian princes. Calista, a naturally intuitive person, serves as the Baron of Archwood’s courtesan and provides him with information. Calista’s voice cautions the travelling prince she saves that he might bring her happiness or ruin. Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner
Grace Henderson and Phoebe Matthews, two football teammates, clash but end up falling in love as their team gets ready for the World Cup in Cleat Cute. While Phoebe, a 22-year-old professional soccer player, is a gregarious jokester, Grace, a 26-year-old star, is out due to an injury. They have different views of their relationship as the World Cup draws near due to a communication error. They understand, though, that they can play together rather than compete for the same position. They must choose between being together and making the roster as tension increases. The comedy-steamy movie emphasises the value of working together and succeeding both on and off the pitch.

Rouge: A Novel by Mona Awad
In Rouge, a fairy tale with a horror twist, Belle, a dress shop clerk, learns of her mother’s unexpected death and sets out on a perilous quest for youth and beauty. She visits La Maison de Méduse, the same spa her mother was passionate about, due to debts and unanswered questions regarding her mother’s passing. In this tale, the dark side of beauty, enmity, grief, and the nuanced bond between mothers and daughters are all explored. The book is filled to the brim with California sunshine and blood-red rose petals.

Land of Milk and Honey by C. Pham Zhang
A chef quits her job in the city to move to a mountaintop community where the world’s elite can live luxuriously thanks to rare ingredients and a daughter with vision. The chef is forced to reshape the world outside of her plate as her boundaries are eroded. In The Land of Milk and Honey, desire, deceit, privilege, and faith are all examined in relation to the ethics of seeking pleasure in a dying world. The book is a valentine to food, to untamed joy, and to the empowering force of a woman embracing her own appetite.

Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll
Jessica Knoll’s gripping thriller, Bright Young Women, combines true crime and psychological suspense. The plot centres on two women from different parts of the nation who join forces and become sisters in battle in order to bring the killer of a Florida sorority to justice. Pamela Schumacher and Tina Cannon are attempting to identify the murderer when the book’s opening scene takes place in 1978. In her stirring book, Knoll explores the tabloid fascination with evil and the strong women with real-life tales to tell.

The River We Remember by William Kent Krueger
The 1958 assassination of Jimmy Quinn, a town’s most influential resident, leaves a Minnesota town in ruins. Sheriff Brody Dern is looking into the crime, but rumours have it that Native American veteran Noah Bluestone may have committed the murder. Dern needs to uncover the truth and set aside his own ghosts because the town is on the verge of erupting in violence. The River We Remember is a complex mystery and a masterful depiction of American life in the 1950s that emphasises the scars left by wars and the therapeutic value of tales about our ancestral homes.

Holly by Stephen King
Holly Gibney makes a comeback as a detective in Stephen King’s Holly, going up against two corrupt and fictitious foes. The Finders Keepers detective agency responds to a call from Penny Dahl, a desperate woman with a mother who is connected to COVID. The respectable bourgeois couple, Professors Rodney and Emily Harris, are keeping a sinister secret in their house. Holly will need to employ her impressive skills to outwit and outmanoeuvre these sick professors.

Nineteen Steps by Millie Bobby Brown
Nineteen Steps, Millie Bobby Brown’s debut book, is a heartfelt story of love, longing, and loss that was inspired by the World War II experiences of her family. Young Londoner Nellie Morris emerges unscathed from underground shelters, surrounded by her devoted family. She finds comfort in her job and the neighbourhood pub three years into the war. Her world is shattered, however, by a terrible incident that occurs during an air raid. Nellie learns that happiness and love can prevail in the face of adversity. The book, which was inspired by her family’s history, is a stirring and intimate tale that exemplifies the power of love.

The Wake-up Call by Beth O’Leary
The love story of Izzy and Lucas, two hotel receptionists, is revealed as they compete to return old wedding rings to their owners. The hotel’s demise poses a threat to its ability to survive after Christmas. Izzy finds a guest’s lost ring and gives it back, persuading management that she may have found the answer. The race is on to save the hotel and their jobs, with four rings still in the lost and found. They wonder if there is more to the story than the future of the hotel as their rivalry deepens.

Black River Orchard by Chuck Wendig
A small town called Black River Orchard undergoes a transformation when seven peculiar trees produce magical apples. The orchard’s secret is revealed to the town, sparking an obsession with the magical qualities of the apples. The inhabitants of the town become more resilient, alive, and self-aware, but their taste for apples becomes dimmer. The orchard contains the town’s bloody past, and as the leaves fall, it’s harvest season, when the town will reap what it has sown.
